HPS Induction Day:

HMS MPhil students are invited to attend the following sessions, taking place on Wednesday, 8th October, 2025:

Induction Session for HMS MA Students  Iza Kavedžija & Kelly Robinson (MA Subject Managers)  An additional Induction session for those HMS students pursuing the Medical Anthropology track. Sandwiches and Light Refreshments will be provided.  

12.30pm - 1.30pm

HPS Seminar Room 1 

Welcome to the HPS Research Community  Hasok Chang (Head of Department), Francesca Anthony (Departmental Administrator) and Nick Hopwood (Director of Postgraduate Education) This is a general introductory meeting for new PhD students, HPSM MPhil, HMS MPhil and Part III students, new postdocs and academic staff, visiting students and visiting scholars. It will include information about the Whipple Museum and Whipple Library. 

2 – 3pm

Hopkinson Lecture Theatre, Phoenix Building Floor 1

Induction Session for HMS MPhil Students  Philippa Carter (HMS MPhil Manager) and Sophia Syddall (HMS MPhil Administrator) The purpose of this session is to allow students to meet each other and some of the staff they will encounter during the year, as well as to provide orientation regarding the course.

The Old Library, HPS

In addition, the following is scheduled on Thursday, 9th October 2025: 

Group Tour of Haddon Library for HMS MA Students George Cronin (Librarian and Research Support Lead)  A small group tour for those HMS students pursuing the Medical Anthropology track. Students should assemble outside the Haddon entrance, in the main courtyard on the Downing Site. A member of the team will be sent down to meet the group and lead them up.   

12pm – 12.30pm, The Haddon Library for Archaeology
